Quali – I went into qualifying Saturday morning feeling confident after showing good pace in the Friday testing. The track was extremely greasy due to the weather conditions and very busy.
I managed to get a couple of clear runs which allowed me to put in a good enough time putting us on pole position for race one.
Race 1 – It was a very close battle in the first two laps of the race. I dropped down to second place after not having the best start off the line. However, managed to make it back up to first after the first corner of the second lap.
I kept good pace throughout the race to gain a 1.8 second gap. Unfortunately after 7 minutes of the race, my drive shaft snapped which lead to a DNF.

Race 2 – Because of the DNF in race 1, I was starting at the back of the grid for race 2.
There was a lot of emotions going through my head because we knew that the pace was there to be up the front. It was a constant battle for the first few laps of the race, trying to fight my way back up to the front of the grid. 7 minutes in and we were back in the lead. From here on out it was all about consistency and not overdriving.
After a very mentally draining race, we got the win by just over 3 seconds and a fastest lap too!
Starting from the back and going on to win the race is an amazing feeling but it couldn’t of been possible without all of the Focus Cup team and the people supporting me from behind the scenes so I’m just glad I could make them proud after a heart-breaking race one.
