Snetterton - Rounds 7 & 8 (and 2)

Quali – I went out for qualifying not really sure how it was going to go because of problems we had with the diff during Friday’s testing. Added to the issue with the car where the conditions… torrential rain! Due to standing water on track, we had in a few laps under safety car at the start of the session.

Battling the conditions and the diff I ended up qualifying third for race one, which in all honesty was better than I thought, especially with so little testing due to the problems with the car.

Race 1 – With the track still wet I managed a good start off the line meant that I ended up gaining one spot, running in second. It stayed close between me and the three other drivers for the first half of the race. After holding onto second for a few laps, I missed a gear going onto the back straight losing me a spot. With Clark attacking hard I just about managed to hold onto third until the end of the race.  A podium finish felt good after what was on tough race

Race 2 – With the track having dried out we all lined up for reverse grid, meaning that I started fourth on the grid. It was a tight pack until turn 3 on the first lap where another driver unfortunately went sideways in-front of me holding both me and Appleton up which left the door open for Mitchell and Baker dropping me back to sixth. It took a couple of laps to get past Appleton and then another to pass Simon Watts so back up to fourth behind Baker, which is where we sat until the end of the race.

Race 3 – This weekend had a third race due to race two being cancelled at Donnington earlier in the season. I started fourth yet again because as there was no reverse grid for this race. The first five minutes of the race I was tuck in behind Baker and then we had a safety car deployed due to a car breaking down. Once the safety car went in, we went back racing again running close to the back of Baker’s car but as with most drivers I finished where I started, one step off a podium finish in fourth.

This weekend unfortunately the car was just not 100% so obviously the guys at Focus Cup will be looking into fixing the problem before we get back racing at Oulton Park on the 28th of June.
Really looking forward to Oulton, such a different track to Snetterton, very technical one of my favourites.
